CONCORD, Mass., Nov. 10, 2022 ( –
Egenera offers a simple, flexible and cost-effective solution for software publishers wishing to adopt the cloud.

Demand to consume software through a SaaS model continues to grow globally, and Gartner predicts SaaS spending will reach $195.2 billion in 2023. The challenge for many small software vendors is to access the cloud without massive investments in development and/or infrastructure. The potential costs and the constant threat of having their customer base or IP address stolen make this segment of cloud consumers very hesitant. However, their resistance does not change the overwhelming trend of buyers towards SaaS solutions, creating a need for ISV-enabled cloud providers.

Arguably, IaaS is approaching “utility” status, where it can be viewed as a commodity and purchased by metrics like lowest cost per cycle. However, this trend is limited to resource-poor cloud consumers. Apart from the major software providers who already offer in SaaS mode, this is generally not the case. This group needs a cloud partner that uses standards similar to what they’ve already designed their software for, that has tools to help them deploy in the cloud the same way they do on-premises , and who has the necessary support services. In a perfect world, this cloud partner can also allow the ISV to take center stage and present uniquely branded service and pricing to its customers.

Egenera’s Xterity Cloud Services is a partner that is part of this small group of ISV-enabled providers. “We are a wholesale-only cloud provider,” said CEO Scott Harris. “ISVs are great partners for Egenera, and our simplicity and exceptional service bring them great value. Egenera’s channel-only approach makes us one of the few vendors ideally positioned to help software vendors move to SaaS.” The recent addition of Totaltrax, which came to them after concluding that one of the major cloud providers was simply not a good choice, is indicative of Egenera’s growing group of software providers. Harris adds, “Stories like this are not uncommon for Egenera. Most of our new partners come to us from a large cloud provider. It is often difficult for an MSP or ISV to quantify the added value of a simple partner program, of premium technical support. , and predictable billing until they’ve gone through a relationship without it.”
