Codetrain Ghana, an application development company, equips its students with technological skills to develop software applications to address social challenges and as an educational tool.

With about three years in operation, the school has an 81 percent work placement rate and has 290 students in Accra and Kumasi.

Mr Richard Brandt, Managing Director of Found Codetrain, speaking in an interview with the Ghanaian News Agency on Monday, said the school aims to provide young people with the opportunity to acquire the right skills and develop their skills. ” be relevant in the world of work.

“There are prospects in the IT field, young people are showing interest and we want to help young people build careers and make ends meet by equipping them with the skills to be creative. and solve problems, ”he said.

He said one of the former students who started a company called Kumba Media developed an app that helped raise money for musicians and actors through uploading their work.

Coming on Friday April 26, he announced that the school would organize a demonstration day to display the software applications developed by the students to the speakers.

He hinted that two of the most interesting apps that would be featured were apps called Report a Bad Road Now, which aims to reduce road accidents, and Think Outside the Box, an app that aims to educate children on good sanitation practices.

Master Gerard Nweje, a student who had to develop a sanitation app, said that the dirty nature of Accra, especially the Dansoman road to Kwame Nkrumah Circle, motivated him to design the app.

Describing the app and how it works, he said it was a picture quiz, which showed dirty environment and asked for the effect of such picture.

“For example, the app will show you a gutter clogged with dirt and a woman selling next to it. Then a question like what will happen to a child who buys food sold closes a gutter that is cold,” a- he explained.

To generate the needed impact and disseminate it in schools, he said they plan to visit stakeholders, especially the Ghana Education Service, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to present it in order to solicit collaboration.
